Liver-Nourishing Herb Soup with Pork Ribs and Squab (serves 3–6)
3 small bundles of liver-nourishing herb, (250 g pork ribs and 1 squab, blanched), 50 g American ginseng slices, 50 g ophiopogon, 30 g goji berries, 3 pitted honey dates, and 3 slices of ginger. Except for the liver-nourishing herb, rinse the other ingredients and place them in a stew pot with an appropriate amount of boiling water at 100°C. Stew for 2 hours, then add the liver-nourishing herb and stew for 1 more hour. Season to taste.
Clears heat and reduces internal heat, nourishes yin and supports the kidneys, and protects the liver: Stew or simmer 16 oz of pork bones with 15 g each of liver-nourishing herb, glossy privet fruit, rehmannia root, and ophiopogon, using an appropriate amount of water.
