Rush pith, also known as rush,Tiger whisker grass, dragon whisker grass,Wild mat grass, red whiskers, and others.The dried aboveground parts of the rush plant, Juncus effusus. In ancient times, it was also widely used as lamp wicks and to make “straw mats and pillows (for calming the mind and promoting sleep).” It is a heat-clearing, fire-purging, water-promoting, dampness-draining medicinal herb.
This product is made by manually removing the outer grass sheath to obtain the pith, then bundling the pith with the outer grass sheath. It is suitable for making soup or sweet soup, steeping in water, or boiling in water.

Promote calm and sleep: ① Use 3 rush pith stems alone or with rose flowers or sour jujube kernels. Steep in water or boil in water (adding honey or honey rock sugar makes it especially delicious).

③ Stewed pork heart with rush pith: 1 pork heart, 8 oz lean meat, 10 rush pith stems, 15 g each of Smilax glabra and ophiopogon, 3 slices of ginger, 2 San Bao Zha packets, and an appropriate amount of water.
Rush pith and bitter melon soup: 4 oz sliced lean meat, 5 rush pith stems, 2 oz dried bitter melon, 3 slices of ginger, a small amount of cooking oil, and water. Bring to a boil, then simmer over medium heat for 20 minutes and season to taste.
