Gotu Kola (Centella asiatica)is also known as pennywort, coin herb, copper coin herb, horseshoe herb, thunder god root, and old vegetable herb, among other names. It is a perennial herbaceous plant in the genus Centella of the Apiaceae family.It is commonly used to prepare decoctions, soups, and cooling herbal teas, and is a medicinal herb that clears heat and promotes urination.
Gotu kola was first recorded more than 2,000 years ago in the Shennong Bencao Jing: bitter in taste, cold in nature, and non-toxic.It is associated with the liver, spleen, and kidney meridians. It is traditionally used for high fever, severe sores, carbuncles, ulcers, spreading skin infections, red rashes, skin redness, and feverish conditions.
Modern pharmacological research suggests that gotu kola may clear heat and promote urination, improve blood circulation and stop bleeding, detoxify and reduce swelling, provide antioxidant effects, promote skin repair, calm the mind, and lower blood pressure.
It is used for fever, cough with wheezing, sore and swollen throat, boils, scrofula, chronic leg ulcers, enteritis, dysentery, damp-heat eczema, jaundice, hepatitis, difficulty urinating, blood in the urine, urinary stones, insomnia, memory improvement, and relief of mental fatigue. For external use, it is applied to bruises and sprains, insect bites, burns, skin ulcers, redness, acne, leprosy, and other conditions.
Tips
Nourish the skin and slow aging:Use 15g each of gotu kola and rehmannia root, plus 10g of hawthorn. Add water and simmer over high heat for about 20 minutes, then add rock sugar to taste and drink as a tea substitute.
Cough due to lung heat: 30g each of gotu kola, ophiopogon root, and cogongrass rhizome; 15g each of loquat leaf and frost-treated mulberry leaf. Add an appropriate amount of water and decoct for drinking.
Jaundice and hepatitis: 15g each of gotu kola and capillary artemisia herb, plus 6g of gardenia fruit and an appropriate amount of brown sugar (added afterward). Decoct in water and drink.
Damp-heat jaundice, promoting urination and expelling stones: 15g each of gotu kola and Lysimachia herb. Add an appropriate amount of water and decoct for drinking.

Shipping Issues
