【About】 Raw aconite root is also known as Ni-fu-zi. It is the lateral root of Aconitum carmichaelii of the Ranunculaceae family. After different traditional processing methods, raw aconite root is divided into "Black Shun Slices, White Slices, Salted Aconite Root," etc. This product, Black Shun Slices, has a black-brown outer skin and a dark yellow cut surface, which is glossy, semi-transparent, and horn-like in texture. It has a slight odor and mild taste. It can be used for boiling medicine, making medicinal wine, cooking soup, and boiling porridge. It is praised as the primary medicine for restoring yang and rescuing collapse, classified as an interior-warming medicine, also known as a cold-dispelling medicine.

【Efficacy】

【Used for】
1. Yang exhaustion and collapse, cold limbs and failing pulse, insufficient heart yang, chest painful obstruction and heart pain.
2. Vomiting and diarrhea due to deficiency-cold, cold pain in abdomen, renal yang deficiency and decline, impotence and cold uterus (infertility due to uterine cold).
3. Yin-cold edema, exogenous affection due to yang deficiency, rheumatic pain due to cold-dampness, cholera with muscle spasms, and inhibiting tumor cell growth.
Tips
【Si-Ni-Tang】 is the most commonly used classic formula for "restoring yang and rescuing collapse" in ancient and modern Chinese medicine. It comes from the "Treatise on Cold Damage Diseases" (Shanghan Lun) written by Zhang Zhongjing during the Eastern Han Dynasty. The original formula consists of three medicines: one piece of Aconite root, one and a half taels of Dried Ginger, and two taels of Honey-fried Licorice. It is mainly used to treat Shaoyin disease, which presents as critical syndromes such as cold limbs and a failing pulse caused by sudden exhaustion of yang qi and internal abundance of yin-cold.
Modern Clinical Reference Usages:
1. Prepared Aconite Root 12g, add about 900ml of water and boil first for about 30–60 minutes to reduce toxicity. Then add 6g of Dried Ginger slices and 9g of Honey-fried Licorice, and boil for another 30 minutes to obtain about 300ml of liquid. 1 dose daily, divided into 2 warm doses taken after meals.
2. Prepared Aconite Root about 15–20g, add about 600ml of water and boil first for about 30–60 minutes to reduce toxicity. Then add about 4.5g of Dried Ginger slices and about 6g of Honey-fried Licorice, and boil for another 30 minutes to obtain about 200ml of liquid. 1 dose daily, divided into 2 warm doses taken after meals.
Li Shizhen in the "Compendium of Materia Medica" (Ming Dynasty) stated: "One ancient tael can be used as one modern qian today."
Wang Ang in the "Songs of Herbal Formulas" (Qing Dynasty) also followed this statement: "Generally, what was used as one tael in ancient times is fully sufficient as one qian today."
Note: Later generations have always had continuous controversies over ancient weights and measures. According to archaeological evidence, one tael in the Eastern Han Dynasty corresponds to approximately 15.6 grams today.
